Young Vibe
Young Vibe is the teen mentoring and training ministry of the St. Moses the Black Athletic Center and Parish. Young Vibe is a service oriented program, open to teens in grades 9th through 12th. Our members are required to participate in a variety of community service events within the St. Moses the Black Parish and throughout our metropolitan area. They have served as volunteers with the church’s food pantry, where over 500 families are fed weekly, as well as with the Greater Chicago Food Depository. They have also done community projects which included cleaning parks and streets, and assisting elderly parishioners with home projects from painting to organizing.
Our teens are trained to perform in all areas for athletic activities that take place in our facility. These duties include food service, ticket office transactions, clean-up, time keeping, and statistics. Teens are also able to partner with our refs to learn how to referee. They are responsible for contacting ministry leaders to schedule work hours, as well as discussing any issues or concerns that that may arise. Parents are not allowed to intervene.
Our teens are taught marketable skills that can be utilized outside of our organization. They are also required to be morally upright and accountable. At the conclusion of this program, our teens our taught and assisted in creating an effective resume.
