What We Are All About
The Athletic Center at St. Moses the Black, formerly known as St. Columbanus is the Premier elementary basketball league in Chicago. The league was started in 1977, exclusively for south side Catholic elementary teams. In 2000, we opened our league to public schools. Over 40 years later, our league includes teams from across the city and suburbs. We are diverse in backgrounds, race, and religion, but when our teams walk into our doors, we are on one accord.
Our Mission
The primary purpose of The Athletic Center is to enhance and develop values that foster leadership, self-discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork while providing a safe, nurturing, and athletically challenging environment for student athletes.
The values and lessons taught by athletic participation: personal development, respect, leadership, self-confidence, integrity, fun, and friendship. The programs help develop strong, healthy, and focused student athletes who offer service and hope to the community.
